Thanksgiving has passed, but this weekend is expected to be just as busy for holiday travelers leaving or returning back to Charlotte.

Holiday travel was hectic for those flying in and out Charlotte Douglas International Airport for days leading up to Thanksgiving this week, with it taking up to an hour to reach terminals because of heavy traffic, The Charlotte Observer previously reported.

It’ll likely be just as packed this weekend.

“CLT is expecting large crowds Saturday through Monday,” a spokesperson for CLT told The Charlotte Observer. “Airport roadways will be busy once again with drive time up to 45 minutes to an hour to reach the front doors of the terminal. Travelers should plan accordingly and factor in that extra time.”

Airport officials anticipated that this Thanksgiving holiday would be its busiest yet, with record-breaking crowds of 900,000 passengers. Saturday, Sunday and Monday will be the busiest days for those passing through, according to airport leaders.

In addition to a potentially long commute getting to the airport, you should also account for extra time inside CLT too.

“Passengers are strongly advised to book parking online at parkCLT.com and be inside the terminal at least two hours before a domestic flight and three hours before an international flight. Security wait times are expected to reach up to 45 minutes during busy times,” airport officials said.
