Four now dead, including two young twins and mother, in crash near Rock Hill
Four people from Rock Hill, including a mother and her 3-year-old twin daughters, died after a crash involving three vehicles late Friday in York County.
Initial information released after the collision by S.C. Highway Patrol troopers showed three people died, but coroner officials said over the weekend a fourth person died later at a Charlotte hospital.
Tionese Crim Hughes, 30, and her twin daughters, Mackenzie and Mariah Hughes, died after the wreck, York County Deputy Coroner Christina Westover said Monday.
Kristen Agard, 39, who was in a different car, also died at the scene, according to the coroner.
The collision happened on Saluda Road near S.C. 324 south of Rock Hill, according to the highway patrol and coroner.
Tionese Hughes died at the scene, the coroner’s office said. One of her children died while being transported to Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill, and the other died at Levine Children’s Hospital in Charlotte, according to the coroner.
Tionese Hughes was driving a 2019 Nissan sedan and the twin girls were passengers in the back seat when her car and the Chevy sedan driven by Agard collided, according to officials.
A driver and passenger in a third vehicle were not hurt, troopers said.
The investigation into the crash remains ongoing by the S.C. Department of Public Safety, Master Trooper Gary Miller of the highway patrol told The Herald Monday.
