A sinkhole appeared in uptown Charlotte Tuesday afternoon, blocking part of South Cedar Street.
City leaders said a water leak is believed to be the cause, Observer news partner WSOC reported.

Workers were out by the sinkhole assessing the damage.
Photos taken by the Observer show the cracked cement with orange tape placed around the sinkhole.
