Charlotte firefighters rescue man in hole
Charlotte firefighters rescued a man Wednesday morning who fell into a hole in the 200 block of Clark Boulevard in University City.
The shoulder-width hole in the front yard of a single-family home appeared to be a little over 6 feet deep. The man was taken to an area hospital with injuries, but it wasn’t clear how serious they were, said Charlotte Fire Capt. Dennis Gist.
The hole is one of five along Clark. Gist said the holes were dug by a subcontractor of Lane Construction. It wasn’t immediately clear why the holes were there, but Lane is involved in the CATS Blue Line extension project.
The man in the hole was working on landscaping at 201 Clark Blvd.
A man who worked with him said he found the man a little after 7 a.m. He said he called 911 after finding the man unresponsive.
He said the firefighters dug around the man and put a strap around him to remove him, and gave him oxygen.
