The Mecklenburg PTA Council invites families to prepare for the new school year Saturday at a parent leadership conference.

The free session, which includes a teen summit and activities for K-5 children, takes place from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Phillip O. Berry Academy of Technology, 1430 Alleghany St. Adult workshops focus on ways to be a leader at school, including special sessions for fathers.

The event is open to families at all types of schools. Register by Friday at www.Meckpta.org/conference.
