An 82-year-old man burned in a house explosion in the Charlotte suburb of Weddington has died of his injuries, Observer news partner WSOC-TV reported.

Wesley Decker, along with a woman in the home, suffered burns when the house exploded around 9 a.m. Nov. 17.

Decker died on Friday, WSOC and other news outlets reported.

The Union County Fire Marshal determined that the cause was fuel-air explosion originating in the garage, but the exact cause of the blast was still under investigation, WSOC reported.

Decker had been released from a hospital into long-term care before he died.
