People snickered when forecasters suggested it could snow in Mecklenburg County for the first time in nearly three years, but it happened.

Yes, it came in the middle of the night Tuesday morning, but some people were awake at 3 a.m. and started posting photos and video on social media.

In some cases, they swore that ”trace” was more like a couple of inches, but that appeared to be only in rare instances.

The “scattered flurries” came when it was 26 degrees, and places to the north like Huntersville and Mooresville got more more than Charlotte.

The flurries were expected to end before 7 a.m. Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service.

Here are some of the posts shared on social media.
