More than 2,000 of them earn at least $100,000 and 43 make more than $200,000, according to a Charlotte Observer review of salary data as of January.

Here is how the salaries of workers break down by the highest average salary-earning departments.

▪ Salaries in the city manager’s office, with nine employees, average $242,700. The city manager himself, Marcus Jones, makes $480,000.

▪ The attorney’s office, with 45 employees, averages $145,000.

▪ The cybersecurity office, with 15 employees, averages $138,000

▪ Technology business services, with 17 employees, averages $122,000.
