Overnight rain has led to cooler temperatures in the Charlotte region, with a high of only 85 forecast for Friday afternoon at Charlotte Douglas International Airport.
Scattered showers and thunderstorms are possible during the day and evening. Otherwise, it will remain mostly cloudy, according to the National Weather Service in Greenville-Spartanburg, S.C.
The precipitation will move from the region by Saturday, which is forecast to be mostly sunny with a high near 88.
Sunday should also remain mostly sunny, with a high near 89, before a 40 or 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms returns Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.
The forecast highs are much milder than what the Charlotte area experienced in much of July and early August, when highs consistently reached into the mid- to high 90s.
