Piedmont Natural Gas will purge gas from a pipeline in Charlotte on Tuesday, creating loud noises and the rotten egg smell that indicates the presence of gas.
The work will be in the area of Farm Pond Lane and Marlbrook Lane. It’s part of the preparation to connect a new line to an existing pipeline.
The gas to be purged will come from a 700-foot section of existing pipeline.
Piedmont said it will use a masking agent to minimize odor, but residents might still smell it. Technicians will be in the area to monitor the work and address residents’ concerns.
