SBI investigating cause of Lincoln County fire that killed two
Two people were killed in a fire last week near Lincolnton, authorities reported.
Robert Whiteside Jr., 84, and his wife, Barbara Whiteside, 83, died following a fire on Windmill Lane.
The Lincoln County Fire Department received a call reporting the fire at 4:57 a.m. on Thursday, July 24.
The Lincoln County Fire Marshal’s office asked for assistance from the State Bureau of Investigation, according to Chad Flowers, the bureau’s public information director.
The office’s preliminary investigation did not indicate foul play, he said, and agents are still investigating.
