Harris Teeter mystery shopper hits a Mega Millions prize, NC lottery says
A shopper at a North Carolina Harris Teeter hit a $2 million prize in Friday’s Mega Millions drawing, lottery officials said Saturday.
The winner remained a mystery on Saturday, as no one immediately claimed the prize, officials said.
The shopper’s $5 ticket matched the five white balls to win $1 million, according to a lottery news release. The lottery’s new built-in multiplier doubled the prize.
The winner bought the ticket at the store in the 400 block of Peninsula Drive in Davidson, near Lake Norman, according to the lottery.
In matching the balls, the winner beat odds of 1 in 12.6 million, according to the Mega Millions game page.
The winning balls were 18, 30, 44, 48 and 50.
The prize was the largest won nationally in the drawing, officials said. The winner has six months to claim the prize.
The jackpot for Tuesday’s drawing is $253 million as an annuity and $113.8 million cash. The odds of winning a Mega Millions jackpot are 1 in 290.5 million.
