6 injured, trapped in wreck on a busy Charlotte highway Saturday, MEDIC says

Six people were injured and trapped in a wreck on outbound Independence Boulevard in Charlotte on Saturday, MEDIC said.

One person has life-threatening injuries, while the others have non-life threatening injuries, MEDIC reported at about 1:45 p.m. on social media site X.

The busy highway is closed from East W.T. Harris Boulevard to Calibre Crossing Drive, according to MEDIC.

The crash happened around 1 p.m., MEDIC said.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg police and state highway officials have released no information about the wreck and how long the highway is expected to remain closed.
