A stretch of the popular Charlotte Rail Trail in the South End neighborhood will close for months so crews can replace drainage pipes, city officials said this week.

Beginning Monday, Sept. 8, the section between Poindexter Drive and New Bern Street, near the CATS New Bern Station, will be closed for about four months, officials said.

The trail will be closed behind the MAA Reserve apartments at 2720 South Boulevard.

One side of the rail trail will be closed at a time, and detour signs will be posted, officials said.

The CATS Blue Line will operate as normal during the Charlotte Rail Trail closure, city officials said.
