Motorists who use McCoy Road near Huntersville as a shortcut to and from work will find it blocked for a movie production most of Monday, Dec. 1, according to the Huntersville Police Department.

Homeowners in the area are also being warned to expect “increased activity” from 6 a.m to 6 p.m. Monday, police in a Facebook post.

The hit Netflix series “The Hunting Wives” is back in the Charlotte area filming its second season now, but it was not clear if the detour was related to that show.

“A movie studio has received approval from the N.C. Department of Transportation to close a portion of McCoy Road — from the 9600 block to the 10400 block — from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday,” police said.

“There will be soft closure — with only local traffic allowed through — from Hambright Road to the farmhouse at the 10400 block of McCoy Road. Residents on the north side of the farmhouse will have to access their homes from Hambright Road.”

Maps show the blocks involved on the closure are sparsely populated. The two-lane road parallels Interstate 77 north of Interstate 485 and merges with Beatties Ford Road near Charlotte.

Details of the production company involved in the film project were not released.
