Blasting operations will briefly delay Interstate 485 traffic in Charlotte on Friday, state highway officials said Thursday.

East Coast Drilling & Blasting will blast from 2 to 2:30 p.m. near the I485/N.C. 49 interchange in northeast Charlotte, according to an N.C. Department of Transportation alert.

The blasting off N.C. 49 will mean brief travel delays “for safety,” officials said.

For about 10 minutes, State Highway Patrol troopers will implement a rolling roadblock on I-485 Inner and Outer between Rocky River Road exit 36 and N.C. 49 exit 33, until the area is clear and safe for drivers.

I485 message boards will alert drivers before the blasting.
