Video: Myers Park home had flames shooting through roof in middle of the night
Video posted just after 3 a.m. by the Charlotte Fire Department shows flames were seen shooting through the roof of a home near Myers Park Country Club.
The fire erupted before dawn Thursday, and firefighters arrived in time to find someone running out the front door of the home with a large bag that appeared to be loaded with belongings, the video shows.
The two-story home is located in the 2100 block of Brandon Circle, near Sharon Road. The neighborhood is about two blocks east of Myers Park Country Club.
“Thirty Charlotte firefighters controlled the incident in 36 minutes,” the Charlotte Fire Department reported in social media post just after 3 a.m. on Feb. 19. “There were no reported injuries to civilians or firefighters.”
The fire started around 2:15 a.m. near a heating and air conditioning unit in the attic, leading to a partial collapse of the roof, the fire department said. The cause was deemed accidental, officials said.
Damage to the home and contents has been estimated at $135,000.
