Massive sinkhole submerges driver’s truck in water on a North Carolina road

A massive sinkhole submerged a driver’s pickup truck in water nearly up to its windows on a North Carolina road Saturday morning, police said.

Photos released by Gastonia police on social media showed the truck trapped in water in the area of Brown Street and West Airline Avenue.

“Please avoid the area of Airline and Brown while this red truck gets removed from an apparent sinkhole that caved in suddenly,” police said.

Police reported no injuries and said city crews were on scene working to fix the sinkhole.
