Charlotte region has another shot at rain Wednesday
The Charlotte region has another decent chance of showers and thunderstorms into Wednesday night and Thursday, after storms late Tuesday and early Wednesday caused flooding in Union County.
The chance of precipitation stands at 40 percent Wednesday afternoon, 50 percent Wednesday night and 40 percent Thursday, according to the National Weather Service in Greenville-Spartanburg, S.C.
By Friday, however, only a slight chance of rain will remain, followed by partly sunny skies Saturday and mostly sunny skies Sunday.
Storms Tuesday night and early Wednesday flooded several Union County roads, leaving several vehicles stuck in a ditch off Billy Howey Road near Waxhaw.
Rainfall amounts varied by area. Matthews Elementary School in Matthews recorded 3.14 inches over the past 24 hours compared with 1.76 inches at Providence High School in Charlotte, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.
