Fire damages Ashley Place Apartments in southeast Charlotte; no injuries reported

The Charlotte Fire Department on Wednesday responded to a structural fire at Ashley Place Apartments on Electra Lane in southeast Charlotte.

The fire, according to a structure fire advisory released by CMFD, started around 8:00 p.m., and was quickly dispatched by firefighters who were able to get the fire under control in 11 minutes.

Multiple fire crews, including Engine 65, Engine 43 and Engine 29, responded to the scene alongside Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.

There were no injuries reported from the scene.

Firefighters were seen actively investigating the scene after the fire, including cleaning up debris from the fire that destroyed the inner apartment. It’s unclear how the fire initially started or if other apartments were damaged in the incident.

Currently, the Charlotte Fire Investigation Task Force is looking into the cause of the fire. Officials have not released further information about the fire, and the investigation remains ongoing until more information is given to the public.
