Charlotte weather: Sunshine starts the weekend

A week of sunshine and light breezes in the Charlotte area will continue into the weekend as meteorologists expect mostly sunny weather Friday and Saturday before a slight chance of showers on Sunday.

Forecasters predict the high on Friday to peak at 87 degrees, accompanied by light winds and plenty of sun rays, before the temperature drops to 64 degrees during the night, according to the National Weather Service. The high is expected to reach 87 degrees on Saturday before dipping to 68 degrees in the evening.

Meteorologists predict a 20 percent chance of showers and a slight chance of thunderstorms after noon on Sunday.

But don’t worry, the wet weather won’t last. Forecasters expect a partly sunny sky with a high near 87 on Monday.
