Card game turns violent in Statesville

A card game at a home in Statesville turned violent Saturday night, leaving one man reportedly cut by a box cutter.

Statesville police are looking for a man in connection with an assault that left Larry Culler cut on his arm.

Police obtained an arrest warrant charging James Hyde of Statesville with assault with a deadly weapon, inflicting serious injury. They were looking for Hyde on Sunday.

The incident happened on North Patterson Street about 10:30 p.m. Saturday during an argument, according to WBTV, the Observer’s news partner.
