Events to clog part of uptown Thursday
Expect heavy uptown traffic Thursday, as the Belk College Kickoff FanFest, a Charlotte Knights game and a college football game draw tens of thousands of visitors.
The traffic crunch started Wednesday as crews began to set up for the Belk College Kickoff FanFest.
Mint Street will be closed between Morehead and Stonewall streets until midnight. Thursday, according to the Charlotte Department of Transportation. FanFest is 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Thursday.
The Charlotte Knights will play a game at noon Thursday at BB&T Ballpark.
And the Belk College Kickoff football game at Bank of America Stadium is 6 p.m. Thursday, pitting the North Carolina Tar Heels against the South Carolina Gamecocks.
The heaviest traffic is expected to start early Thursday. Some streets near Bank of America Stadium may be closed to traffic, and on-street parking will be limited.
Motorists should be alert to pedestrians crossing streets and walking to the events from remote parking places.
