Showers, thunderstorms expected in Charlotte area this Labor Day weekend
If you’re planning an outing this Labor Day weekend, you might want to hold off until the holiday itself.
Meteorologists expect a band of scattered showers and maybe some thunderstorms to descend on the Charlotte area starting Friday night, when the forecast is a 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 5 p.m., according to the National Weather Service.
Preceding the rain Friday there will be a high of 93 degrees, forecasters say.
There’s a chance of showers after 9 a.m. Saturday, when the skies will be cloudy and the temperature 83 degrees at its highest. Weather officials predict a 40 percent chance of rain throughout the day, followed by a slight chance of showers later into the night and early Sunday morning.
The wet weather will continue into Sunday with a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms after 11 a.m. The temperature will reach 83 degrees, then dip to 67 degrees with a 20 percent chance of rain.
On Monday, clouds give way to partly sunny skies and a high near 85 degrees.
