One dead, two injured near Huntersville after car drives the wrong way on I-77

One person was killed and two others were injured early Saturday when a car traveling the wrong direction on Interstate 77 collided with another car, tying up traffic for two hours.

The collision took place near Exit 23 at about 2:30 a.m. Saturday, with a car traveling south on northbound lanes, authorities said.

The N.C. Highway Patrol is investigating the collision.

No names of any of the victims have been released as of Saturday.
