Matthews Alive Festival attracts thousands

The Matthews Alive Festival, a Labor Day weekend celebration that supports local non-profit organizations, attracted thousands Saturday to downtown Matthews.

The annual festivities included a parade, rides and games. Over the years, Matthews Alive has contributed more than $1.2 million to local charities.

The festival runs through Monday.
