Pedestrian hit on W.T. Harris Boulevard

A pedestrian was struck by a vehicle on W.T. Harris Boulevard early Monday and sustained life-threatening injuries.

A van hit the pedestrian on W.T. Harris near North Tryon Street in northeast Charlotte around 6:30 a.m., according to WBTV, the Observer’s news partner.

Officers on the scene reported that the pedestrian darted out into the street in front of the van before sunup. Speed is not believed to be a factor.

The pedestrian was taken to Carolinas Medical Center with life-threatening injuries, according to Medic. The driver is not expected to face charges.
