A wreck has blocked the two left lanes of Interstate 85 northbound near Belmont in Gaston County on Tuesday afternoon.
The wreck happened about 1:40 p.m., and it could an hour to clear the scene, state highway officials said.
Earlier Tuesday, Medic took five patients to Carolinas Medical Center from a wreck on Mount Holly Road (N.C. 27) in northwest Charlotte.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg police said the wreck happened shortly before 10 a.m. in the 10200 block of the road, west of Interstate 485 near Pine Island Country Club.

Medic said three ambulances and a mass casualty bus responded.
One patient was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries and four others with non-life threatening injuries, Medic reported.
Details of the wreck weren’t available Tuesday morning.
