Cherryville tops NC list of Ashley Madison accounts

The Gaston County town of Cherryville had the most Ashley Madison accounts in the state by percentage, according to an analysis by the website RoadSnacks.

According to the site’s analysis, 16.6 percent of residents had an Ashley Madison account.

Three other Gaston County towns are also in the top 10: Dallas (No. 3), Belmont (No. 4) and Bessemer City (No. 8). In Mecklenburg County, Cornelius was also in the top 10, at No. 7 with 12.3 percent of residents with Ashley Madison accounts, according to RoadSnacks.

The website – whose slogan is, “Life is short. Have an affair” – is marketed to facilitate extramarital affairs.

Hackers last month released detailed records on millions of people registered with the site one month after a break-in at Ashley Madison’s parent company, Toronto-based Avid Life Media Inc.

Charlotte ranked No. 19, with 7.65 percent with Ashley Madison accounts, according to RoadSnacks.
