Charlotte Hornets player gives back to students
Charlotte Hornets point guard Brian Roberts presented school supplies, including computers and cameras, to leaders of Charlotte’s Starmount Elementary on Friday. The donations were a personal gift from Roberts and his wife, Jenna, who wanted to get involved in the community.
The school held an achievement contest among students, and winners from each class were able to shoot a free throw with Roberts, though he was forced more than once to lift the students to help them make their shot. The event was organized through the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools Community Partnerships and Family Engagement. Starmount Elementary serves a large number of low-income families.
