Chester man dies after car hits tree, bursts into flames
A Chester man died early Saturday morning after his car went off a rural road, struck a tree and burst into flames.
Stacy Chisholm, 51, of Jeter Street, Chester, was driving a 2000 Dodge north on Darby Road near Lowrys when the crash occurred at 1 a.m., according to Lance Cpl. Tony Keller with S.C. Highway Patrol.
After the car hit the tree and caught fire, the driver became entrapped in the car, and first responders had to mechanically extract him from the vehicle. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. The cause of the accident has not been identified.
