Fall weather should stick around the Charlotte area

After some drizzle and scattered showers Tuesday, the sun and warmer temperatures are expected to re-emerge briefly on Wednesday, the first day of fall.

Wednesday’s high could reach 80 as drier air reaches the Charlotte region, according to the National Weather Service in Greenville-Spartanburg, S.C. That’s a normal high for this week.

The sun won’t last long, however, as an approaching warm front will bring another chance of rain beginning Thursday, forecasters said. Thursday has a 40 percent chance of rain, with chances increasing to 50 percent Thursday night and Friday.

The high is expected to fall again, to 74 Thursday through Sunday.

The chances of rain will again diminish after Friday, to 30 percent Friday night and Saturday, 40 percent by Sunday night and 30 percent Monday.
