Caldwell County child’s death investigated
Responding to a report of a 2-year-old missing from a home near Lenoir on Monday, Caldwell County authorities found the child’s body in the backyard swimming pool, Sheriff Alan Jones said.
Algae growth in the pool prevented searchers from seeing the bottom, and divers were used to find the child, Jones said.
The home is in the 700 block of Abington Road.
The child’s name has not been released, and Jones said his office continues to investigate the circumstances of the death.
“This is a tragic situation, and we request everyone to keep this family in their prayers,” Jones said in a statement.
