$25,000 goal surpassed for shooting victim
Friends surpassed their $25,000 fundraising goal on Saturday for a Charlotte woman hospitalized since a stray bullet hit her in the face Sept. 11 at the NC Music Factory north of uptown.
Police say Darcy Quan, 23, was an innocent bystander after a fight broke out during an apparent robbery attempt at the Queen City Underground band rehearsal studio. A shooting erupted, and the incident spilled outside into a parking lot.
Three Charlotte teens were charged in the shootings. Police said six people were injured. Quan was listed in good condition Saturday.
Emily Berg Cordero, a co-worker at the Brixx Pizza restaurant in Birkdale Village where Quan has worked for seven years, set up a Go Fund Me site that raised $25,120 from 404 donors by Saturday. A $2,135 donation came from Friends of NC Music Factory.
