Single-vehicle wreck in Gaston leaves 2 dead

Two people died in Gaston County on Sunday morning in single-vehicle wreck in the 700 block of Dallas Spencer Mountain Road in Dallas.

The North Carolina Highway Patrol said Michael and Sherry Ivicsics of Bessemer City were killed when their car went airborne and hit a tree just before 10 a.m. Sunday morning.

The road was closed for hours after the crash while emergency crews tended to the scene.

The car was speeding before it crashed, according to troopers. Investigators have ruled out weather as a factor.
