Charlotte traffic: Congestion heavy on interstates leading to uptown
Wrecks along the interstates leading to uptown are creating heavy congestion across the area.
▪ Traffic is slow-moving on I-77 south because of two separate collisions. One is slowing the flow of cars from LaSalle Street to the John Belk Freeway, according to NCDOT. In Mooresville, a collision was reported at 7:31 a.m., slowing traffic from Griffith Street to Sam Furr Road.
▪ On I-77 north, a high-severity wreck reported at 6:32 a.m. is slowing travel from I-485 and Tyvola Road. All lanes are reportedly open. Moving away from uptown, a collision reported at 7:35 a.m. is slowing traffic from Hambright Road to Sam Furr Road.
▪ Interstate 85 south is slow due to a high-severity wreck at I-77 south at 7:38 a.m. The center lane is blocked, according to NCDOT.
