Charlotte traffic: Tree blocked Tyvola Road for 4 hours

dhinshaw@charlotteobserver.com

A tree that three vehicles ran into when it fell onto Tyvola Road Tuesday morning blocked the westbound lanes for about four hours.

The tree fell about 5 a.m., and injuries were reported initially in at least one of the vehicles. Police later said no one was injured.

Driver Lynda Crouse told Observer news partner WBTV that she watched a pickup truck go over the tree before she slammed on her brakes trying to avoid a collision.

“I was driving along and all the sudden you hear this big boom,” Crouse said. “The white car beside me jumped over the tree. They went airborne.”
