The Charlotte area can expect two more days of sunshine with above-normal temperatures before a chance of rain returns to the region.
Thursday and Friday could hit 81 degrees, seven degrees above normal.
But showers and thunderstorms could move into the area Friday night and usher in far cooler temperatures over the weekend.
Showers are likely Saturday morning, according to the National Weather Service in Greer, S.C., although rain chances should fall to 30 percent by the start of the Bank of America 500 at Charlotte Motor Speedway Saturday night.
Saturday’s high is expected to reach only 69 degrees and Sunday’s 68, before rebounding to 74 on Columbus Day, when no rain is forecast. Skies should be mostly sunny Monday through Wednesday.
