Interstate traffic may be lighter due to Columbus Day

Federal offices and many bank employees are off Monday because of the Columbus Day holiday, which means traffic could be lighter on the interstates into uptown.

Some of the accidents that may still impact the commute include:

Uptown area

At 8:44 a.m. accident reported at North Interstate 85 and Brookshire Boulevard

East Charlotte

At 8:38 a.m. accident reported at Monroe Road and Ashmore Drive.

At 7:38 a.m. hit and run accident reported at Randolph Road and North Colonial Avenue.

At 7:11 a.m. an accident with personal injury was reported at 2400 Colony Road.

University City

At 7:46 a.m. accident reported at Mallard Creek Road and Carolina Lily Lane.

West Charlotte

At 8:25 a.m. accident reported at Beatties Ford Road and North Interstate 85 intersection.

At 7:58 a.m. accident reported at 3501 Performance Road.

At 7:56 a.m. accident reported at 5735 Old Dowd Road.

South Charlotte

At 8:35 a.m. accident reported at South Caswell Road and Providence Road.

At 8:35 a.m. accident reported at 14300 Shopton Road West.

At 8:17 a.m. accident reported at Billy Graham Parkway and West Tyvola Road.

At 7:58 a.m. accident reported at Providence and Randolph roads intersection.

At 7:24 a.m. accident reported near the intersection of Shopton Road just west of Steele Creek Road.
