Rabies confirmed in raccoon that attacked dog in Bessemer City
A raccoon that attacked a dog in Bessemer City on Sunday was Gaston County’s third confirmed rabies case of the year.
Animal Care and Enforcement workers impounded the raccoon after the attack on West Boston Avenue and processed the animal for rabies testing. A state lab confirmed the animal had the disease.
