Charlotte traffic: Wreck downs power lines onto North Tryon Street

Part of outbound North Tryon Street was closed early Friday for about three hours after an injury wreck downed power lines between Craighead Road and East Sugar Creek Road.

All lanes reopened by 5:45 a.m.

A driver cut off another driver, and both cars took out a power pole, Observer news partner WBTV reported. Alcohol was involved, and two occupants ran away, while two others were hospitalized with minor injuries, the station reported.

Medic, meanwhile, reported taking a pedestrian to Carolinas HealthCare System-Pineville with minor injuries after the person was struck by a vehicle about 6:30 a.m. in the 2200 block of Yorkhills Drive, off South Tryon Street.

Shortly before 10 a.m., police responded to an injury at a wreck on Albemarle Road and Regal Oaks Drive and a wreck in the 4100 block of Providence Road. At 10:30 a.m., a wreck was reported on East Independence Boulevard and Sardis Road North.
