Salisbury teen arrested for Facebook post showing guns and implying threat
A Salisbury teen who posted pictures of guns on Facebook along with a threat about violence at an area school has been arrested by the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities said officials at East Rowan High School alerted the sheriff’s office on Saturday to a Facebook post allegedly sent by Amber Michelle Beaver, 17, that said, “School finna be ‘lit.’”
The accompanying picture showed a pistol, a shotgun, a bolt-action rifle and a semi-automatic rifle, the sheriff’s office said.
Deputies went to Beaver’s home in Salisbury on Saturday but were told she had not been there in a week. She was later arrested in Spencer after warrants were issued for communicating threats and for making a false report of mass violence on an educational property.
Beaver told deputies the Facebook post was a joke.
It was not immediately clear whether Beaver is a student at East Rowan High. She reportedly dropped out last year but enrolled again this year, according to the sheriff’s report.
Beaver is in custody at the Rowan County Detention Center, with bond set at $7,500.
