Charlotte traffic: 2 wrecks, vehicle fire shut I-77 lanes in Mooresville
Interstate 77 in Mooresville was a mess Wednesday morning.
At 8 a.m., a vehicle fire on I-77 northbound about a mile north of Exit 36 (N.C. 150) was blocking the right lane.
An earlier wreck closed the right northbound lane of the interstate near Exit 36.
And another wreck closed the southbound lanes near Exit 33, Williamson Road/U.S. 21.
The southbound lanes reopened about 8 a.m., but the right northbound lane at exits 36 and a mile north are still closed.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg police were at wrecks on West Arrowood Road at South Tryon Street, on North Davidson Street at East 12th Street and in the 8000 block of Statesville Road.
Huntersville police responded to a wreck on Sam Furr Road at northbound I-77.
An overturned 18-wheeler has closed the ramp from northbound I-77 to U.S. 21 in York County, S.C., according to Observer news partner WBTV.
