Lenoir tree service owner killed when tree falls on him

The owner of a tree service company died after a tree he was cutting in a Lenoir neighborhood toppled on him as it fell, police said.

Michael Shaun Roark, 36, owner of Roark’s Tree Service, was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after 5 p.m. Wednesday, Police Chief Scott Brown said.

Roark was cutting a tree behind a home in the 1000 block of Wright Street, Brown said.
