Salisbury police arrested one man and have an arrest warrant for a woman in connection with a fight over beer that ended with two other men getting shot on the porch of a vacant house.

The two victims, Edward Sifford, 55, and Matthew Dwyer, 54, were sitting on the porch drinking beer on Oct. 16, when the suspects walked by and tried to steal the beer, police say. A fight followed, and Sifford and Dwyer were shot. The victims were taken to N.C. Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem and are expected to make a full recovery.

Friday, Salisbury police charged Willie Williams Jr., 30, of Salisbury with assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury. He is in the RC Detention Center on $50,000 bond. Police also have an arrest warrant for Kapetra Monique Simpson Lyerly, 33, of Salisbury, who is already in the detention center on other charges. They said Saturday they intend to serve the latest warrant soon.

After Sifford and Williams began to fight – and Dwyer tried to intervene – Lyerly allegedly began shooting at the victims. Police said Sifford and Dwyer were hit more than once.
