Police make arrest in northeast Charlotte killing

Charlotte-Mecklenburg police charged a 26-year-old man in connection with the shooting death of another man late Saturday.

CMPD charged Garrett Logan Johnson with murder after apprehending him about 5 a.m. Sunday, the department said.

Johnson was charged in the death of Aaron Shealey, 28, who was discovered shot about 10:20 p.m. Saturday in the 6000 block of The Plaza in northeast Charlotte. Shealey was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police gave few details of what led to the shooting, saying only that the two men were acquainted and that it was not a random act of violence.
