Second person dies after shots fired in Chesterfield Co. trailer park
Two people have died and a third person is in the hospital after deputies say shots were fired inside a Chesterfield County trailer park Sunday night, sparking a nine-hour long manhunt for the suspected shooter.
According to investigators, 27-year-old Rashawn Montez Little was taken into custody early Monday morning, after he's accused of exchanging gunfire with Chesterfield County Sheriff's deputes.
Little's wife, 33-year-old Shannon Rasheal Little, was killed in the shooting, officials say. A second person, Tyvon Terrell Threatt, was later pronounced dead Monday afternoon.
A third person, 41-year-old Luther Ray Chambers Jr, is reportedly in the hospital in stable condition.
The sheriff says he's not sure who fired the shot that hit and killed Shannon Little.
Deputies say Little shot three people near Evans Mill Road and investigators got a call about gunfire and shouting around 7:30 p.m. Sunday night.
When deputies arrived, there were shots exchanged between deputies and Little. Investigators say there is body cam footage of the incident, but the video is in the hands of SLED, who was called in to help investigate.
WBTV has learned that three kids were in the trailer when the deadly shooting took place.
The Chesterfield County sheriff commended his deputies for their work in a dangerous situation, saying they had to get neighborhood children and other people out of harm's way.
Rashawn Little drove away and crashed before running into a wooded area, investigators said.
A mile-long section of SC Highway 151 had a perimeter with deputies, police and state agents from SLED. A WBTV crew reported seeing a helicopter up searching with infrared technology.
Rashawn Little was taken into custody following an overnight manhunt. He was found alive in the woods, officials say.
