Charlotte traffic: Disabled 18-wheeler cleared from I-77 northbound in Huntersville

A disabled 18-wheeler has been removed from an Interstate 77 northbound lane near Exit 25, Sam Furr Road, in Huntersville on Tuesday morning.

The truck blocked the right lane at about 9:15 a.m. State highway officials said the lane reopened at about 9:45 a.m.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg police cleared numerous wrecks citywide, although police are still at wrecks on Pineville-Matthews Road at Providence Road and on Yorkmont Road at Oak Lake Boulevard.

In other traffic news, the 300 block of Hawthorne Lane between Park Drive and East Seventh Street is closed until further notice for emergency road repairs.

The Charlotte Department of Transportation said it is working to restore the street as soon as possible, but work could be delayed due to the rain.

Motorists can use East Fourth Street, Charlottetowne Avenue and East Seventh Street as a detour.

The closure is affecting CATS service.
