SC’s first $5 million Mega Millions ticket sold in Chester

A Chester convenience store made history this weekend by selling South Carolina’s first Mega Millions ticket worth $5 million for Friday night’s drawing.

The ticket sold at Kangaroo Express at 1801 JA Cochran Bypass in Chester matched all five white ball numbers drawn. For an extra $1, the ticket holder purchased the Megaplier to see the prize multiplied to $5 million when a “5” multiplier was drawn.

The Mega Millions numbers for Friday were 17, 41, 51, 53, and 56, with 15 as the Megaball.

Customers are encouraged to check their tickets to claim the prize.

More than 20,000 players in South Carolina hold tickets for prizes from $1 up to $5 million.

Players have 180 days from the date of the drawing to claim their prizes. For complete information on claiming prizes, visit sceducationlottery.com.

The Mega Millions jackpot for Tuesday’s drawing is an estimated $144 million.
