Cane Creek Park lake reopens to boaters

The water level at Cane Creek Park in Waxhaw has dropped enough for Union County Parks and Recreation officials to reopen the 350-acre lake to boat traffic.

“A thorough lake patrol was performed this morning by staff, and any floating debris has been removed,” Union County spokesman Brett Vines said Thursday.

Water levels had risen to unsafe levels because of recent rains.

Trails are still closed to horses and bikes, Vines said.
